Should be called flooded with rum but who’s judging. Anyway this year was a year to remember, 10,000 or more bikes made it out this year almost doubling years previous to this.Wow! I wont get started on any fatalities but their were a few this year, and very unfortunate! I was a bit late meeting up with the group by 10:30 April 17th, but I did have a great time catching up with the mayhem that I was unaware of. In the early part of the ride I saw many spots where bikers left their mark in spectators yards, where the home owner and friends were still drinking and rocking out. I was able to hit some real nice banking turns at a reasonable 60-80 MPH and hit some speeds of and in excess of 120 MPH; well until I had the police jump in front of me for like 30 miles (how unfortunate.) After he detoured out of my view it was on like no tomorrow, I was with two other guys with rockets and we were set to rip it up. I think I was ready more than them since it took me 10 minutes to make them eat my dust in a series of bank turns and straightaways, I mean I must have been pushing them cause I stopped at the next town and it was at least five minutes until they caught up. Sorry I love speed and the rush of life on the edge, where I am in control.
I was able to chill for the remainder of the run due to the Harley guys scaring the crap out of me for the amount they were all drinking. That is something I would never do and it is just asking to meet your maker, and I am not ready for that leap quite yet. I remember just before I got to Nelson a Harley rider pointed up at the sky and something caught my eye, so I looked up to see an enormous bald eagle that must have had a wing span of twenty feet or more. That was the highlight of the trip, to see this free, beautiful and majestic bird flying thru the air demanding respect from anyone who gazes upon it. Wow what a sight! In a way I felt just like a bald eagle that day flying on my bike as free as a bird demanding respect and loving life!
